Job Description

Key areas of responsibility:

Provides professional nursing care according to established standards and procedures.

Responsible for administration of nursing programs by providing managerial skills needed in directing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and coordinating nursing care and the delivery of patient care.
Financial Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for preparing and overseeing business reports, including annual nursing budgets.
  • Plans and coordinates with the CFO, utilization the respective Nursing Leadership members for planning the budgeting requirements for personnel, supplies and equipment.
  • Responsible for cost controls to insure maximum effectiveness of funds expended from the approved departmental budgets.

Customer Responsibilities:

  • Ensures that comprehensive care is given to each patient and evaluates the services rendered.
  • Prepares and reviews all protocols of Nursingstaff Interaction with patients/customers.
  • Interacts with patients and accordingly ensures a pro-active patient interaction and feedback system.
  • Is appraised of all inpatient conditions and needs through interaction with nursing team and staff.
  • Coordinates with the consultants to ensure that good nursing care is provided.

Process Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for overseeing and coordinating the nursing department and its daily operations.
  • Keeps up-to-date appraisal of unit capability and requirements.
  • Keeps an up to date knowledge of the unit and drug changes and instructs staff on such changes.
  • Takes the necessary action to resolve nursing unit problems and needs, and makes the necessary changes in the policies and procedures after discussion with the management.
  • Investigates reports of incidents, suspected infections and patient / doctor complaints and resolves problems or makes recommendations for action.
  • Responsible for authorizing the ordering of equipment and supplies required by the unit.
  • Responsible for the timely setting of KRA and review as per the PMS guidelines
  • Ensures compliance with accreditation standards pertaining to NABH /NABL &
  • Identifies appropriate internal controls for departments; provides mechanisms to monitor and enforce compliance.
  • Ensures and enforces hospital infection control standards.
  • Ensures the highest standards of ethical medical practices in the hospital.
  • Maintains continuing quality assessment and improvement analysis and evaluation of patient care delivery and communicates with Administration on the activities/issues of Nursing /Patient Care Services.
  • Plans and recommends to Administration new facilities or equipment, or modification thereto, needed to provide patient care.
  • Recommends supports and participates in education services, programs of education and training including orientation of new Employees Encourages and facilitates the professional advancement of employees by affording opportunities for further education and experience.

People Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for Directing personnel functions, including recruiting, hiring and retention of nursing staff, and handling disciplinary actions
  • Responsible for on-job orientation to nursing personnel and keeps them informed of the philosophies, policies, and procedures to be followed in caring for patients and their families.
  • Responsible for continuous education/training of all nursing
  • Evaluate the work performance of the staff.
  • Plans staff work assignments and schedules.
  • Responsible for providing guidance to staff and acting as a resource to colleagues
  • Keep herself abreast of the latest happenings in nursing care by attending National / International conferences.
  • Maintains close coordination with all departments to ensure continuity and collaboration of services.

General Responsibilities

  • Perform other duties as assigned by CEO & Director.
  • Participates in the Staff Welfare Meetings, Board Meeting, Medical Staff Meetings and Sr.Team Meeting.
